Norman E Berry, father of Jay Berry
Norman E. Berry, 95, of Mill Road, Littleton died at his residence on Oct. 23 with his family surrounding him. He was born in Somerville, Mass. on July 10, 1915, son of the late Irvin and Marion (Kingsbury) Berry and was the husband of the late Barbara (Bacon) Berry who died in 2003. He grew up in Medford and attended Medford High School, graduating with his trade certificate in cabinetry. Norman went to work at Schraffts Candy Factory in Charlestown. He married Barbara Bacon of Medford in 1946, and in 1947 they moved to The Long Store on Great Rd. in Littleton, owned by his cousins Grace and Lyman Chase of Chase Farm. He worked a few years at Herpys Dairy Littleton, and then worked at Harvard University Cambridge as a Steam Engineer for over 30 years. Periodically, he worked a second job in maintenance at Deaconess Nursing Home Concord, accumulating over 12 years there. Norman was a member of Tahattawan Masonic Lodge AF & AM for the past 67 years. He was also active in Meals on Wheels, Council on Aging, and was a member of the Baptist Church of Littleton. He originally bought and renovated a camp on 87 Mill Road, but when Rat 495 was built, he had to move the house to 25 Mill Road. He was known years ago for driving children to the Kindergarten on Harwood Ave and recently for driving his mobility scooter with the orange flag around town. He is survived by his children , Bruce Berry of Wilton, N.H., Lloyd Berry of Moultonborough, N.H., Jay Berry of Littleton, and Nancy Craig of Mason N.H. 13 Grandchildren and 10 Great-Grandchildren.
